Traditional three bladed electric generating windmills do a good job of providing electricity, when the winds are strong, but unless you use a utility scale wind turbine, they do a poor job of providing power to operate an electric pump. You get more water for a lower cost with a mechanically driven wind powered water pump – a lot more water – typically 500% to 1000% and even more. It's true and the reasons are easy to understand. With an electric generating windmill, wind power is converted into mechanical energy. The mechanical energy is then converted to electrical energy. The electrical energy is then converted and stored in batteries or converted to electric power able to be fed directly into the utility grid. The electricity must then be converted or regulated into a usable form and transmitted to the electric pump motor, converting the electricity back to mechanical energy operating a centrifugal pump which is inherently lower in efficiency than any good windmill pump. The three bladed electric generating windmills is not useful for operating electric pumps in low wind speeds, which are common at many sites and can only provide useful pumping ability in very strong winds. Iron Man Windmills use 18 sails to provide efficient operation in these lower wind speeds - wind speeds so low those electric generating windmills are usually standing still! Iron Man Windmills spend more time pumping and provide a lot more water when they do pump. Additionally, Iron Man Windmills made of galvanized steel and iron are stronger and will have a useful life well beyond that of any electric generating windmill. You get a lot more water at a much lower cost for a lifetime of good service with an Iron Man windmill.
