WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT WIND SPEED RANGES?
|
0.5 to 6mph
(1k to 10kph)
|
CALM or just perceptible. The Iron Man Windmill will
usually begin pumping in a 3mph (5kph) to 6mph (10kph) wind depending on
pump load.
|
|
7 to 10mph
(11k to
6kph)
|
LIGHT WINDS. Will cause movement of leaves, small
branches, grass and is felt lightly on the face.
Good winds for pumping with Iron Man Windmills.
Electric generating windmills begin turning in this range
but produce little if any useful energy.
|
|
11 to 17mph
(17kph to
27kph)
|
FAIR WINDS. Will move tree branches, raise dust and blow
litter on the ground.
Very good pumping winds.
Electric generating windmills begin generating usable
power in this range.
|
|
18 to 23mph
(28kph to
38kph)
|
STRONG WINDS. Will cause small trees to sway.
Excellent pumping winds.
|
In winds over 23mph (38kph). The
windmill will begin turning the wind wheel automatically out of the wind and
thus regulating speed and protecting the windmill in storms and high winds
that can wreck buildings.
